the concept of the high-functioning borderline

the mental health community in general is still in debate over the existence of bpd subtypes. Whatever the truth is doesn’t change my reality, but that doesn’t mean i won’t still follow the discussion, or participate in it however I can. What are your thoughts?

Article by Bon Dobbs on “mentalization” and “attachment” in BPD (The comments on this article are also very illuminating)

I will be making a longer post very soon about my experience in CBT and why i left the program. blessings, HJ

A capricorn horse. Creative dreamer, over thinker. bpd, insecure attachment and any other labels for deep and chronic wounds and other gifts of brilliance that propel intense and eclectic lives and make for good art. We are high needs and high return, all the way, all the way. Surrender, integration, repair, rebuild, connect, create, evolve. Deeply.

  1. Good find, it’s always nice to see other perspectives on our experience! 🙂

  2. it’s supremely puzzling to me why the medical community of psychiatrists, psychologists and umbrella organizations for mental health haven’t acknowledged us at all yet. why?

  3. HJ,

Thanks for the mention on your blog (which I have been reading and enjoy). I wish you the best.

    Kindest Regards,
    Bon Dobbs

  4. Indeed even Mind and Rethink share our experiences as blog posts on their sites but call their ‘local’ branches and it’s a postcode lottery just as it is with medical care! :/

In a conversation on Twitter the other night me and some other BPD girls were saying we need to set up our own thing to provide what is lacking!!

  5. Yes, it seems like there is a LONG way to go in understanding the parametres of bpd, identifying and validating all of us. I’m glad to be in touch with both of you. thanks so much for blogging, and visiting me here.

please leave a comment if you have enjoyed what you have read. thanks for visiting.
